At the end of Remnant II’s tutorial, you’ll be tasked with crafting a weapon mod that attaches to your gun and allows you to use a specific damage or utility skill on cooldown. There are four ways to choose from, and we’ll break them down a bit below–but there’s definitely one way ahead of the rest for most early game builds.
What weapon to build first in Remnant II
There are tons of weapon mods to buy and craft throughout Remnant II, but the guide only gives you four options. Here’s what to expect from all four, as well as what we think are your best picks.
This allows you to fire a payload at your ally to heal them for 35% of their maximum health, meaning it’s really only useful if you’re going to be playing with other people. This is a reasonable option to get the Medic class, but it’s not necessary.
This fires an explosion that deals damage through nearby enemies, which can be useful against swarms of enemies. However, the early game stages aren’t particularly challenging, so you’re better off using the single-target damage option to help you kill the boss.
This fires a grenade that leaves caltrops on the ground. These will damage and slow any enemies that walk past them, making it a solid choice for quick crowd control. However, it’s not useful enough to be the best here.
This imbues every shot you make with fire setting the target on fire and consuming their health for 10 seconds. This makes it extremely useful against the game’s bosses, as they will be the biggest threat to you in the early stages of the game.
Whichever option you choose will provide their own situational usage, but as you might have guessed, Hot Shot is our pick for the best weapon mod to pick first. This mod’s damage over time effects can speed up boss battles dramatically, which is a particularly big help in the early hours when your healing and mitigation options are very limited. We say bring the heat!
